Russia proposes adoption ban

Russian lawmakers are still prepared to introduce a measure that would cut off adoptions of children from Russia to the United States, even after criticism of the move. Russia’s human rights community was upset, accusing the ban’s authors of playing "politics" with the lives of orphans. The issue also appeared to weaken relations between top Russian officials and members of the ruling United Russia party, which proposed the ban.

Epic weekend-long traffic jam in Russia stretched 125 miles

Russia's major highway between St. Petersburg and Moscow that spans 125 miles was backed up to a speed of 3-6mph. Drivers set up tents of the side of the road and government sent out meal trucks for the unfortunate drivers. Psychiatrists were brought on to the seen to help people who were unable to handle the
 nerve-wracking situation.
